Mark 2:18-22 Sermon

Feb 23, 2025    Mitch Green

In this message, we explore a pivotal moment in Jesus’ ministry where He clarifies His mission and challenges religious traditions. When questioned about fasting, Jesus uses three powerful analogies—the bridegroom, a new patch on old cloth, and new wine in old wineskins—to reveal deep spiritual truths:

1️⃣ Jesus is God. He isn’t just a teacher or prophet—He is the divine bridegroom, fulfilling the promises of Scripture.

2️⃣ Jesus is the aim of spiritual disciplines. Fasting, prayer, and other practices are meant to draw us closer to Him, not just be empty rituals.

3️⃣ Jesus is doing a new thing. The Gospel is not about adding rules but about transformation through Christ’s finished work.

Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus invites us into something greater—a new covenant of grace. Join us as we dive into Mark 2:18–22 and reflect on what it means to truly pursue Jesus.
